With the average British farmer heading for his 60th birthday, McDonald’s – the fast-food chain that gets through 400,000 cattle and 95m eggs a year in the UK and Ireland – is ploughing funds into agricultural training in an effort to boost the industry and attract more young blood. The scheme will include funding for improving animal welfare standards.
